November 2017 Newsletter
We had so many spooky items ordered for the pups Halloween baskets. We can't wait to show you their excited faces when they open them.
Next up is Christmas! Our Christmas baskets for the pups are always full of excitment. Many local businesses have donated items in the past, and with your help we are also able to include items that MPS animals really need. These items include blankets, potty pads, thermometers, bulb syringes, med timers, and so much more.
If you have a business that would like to donate items, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The deadline to order items for the Christmas basket is December 1st.
We are so thankful for all of you showing your MPS Army support that we have added some new items to our store!
MPS Army's store just got an updated URL. Be sure to add it to your bookmarks and check back weekly for new items.
Who Won The Halloween Contest?
Thank you to everyone who entered our Halloween Costume Contest. So many adorable pictures, and our 3 winners are... @daisysis313, @lilcwain, and @ralphtherescue! Congratulations, we had so many fun pictures it was hard to pick 3 winners. You all looked amazing!
How much did MPS Army receive in donations last month and what are donations typically used for?
Great Question! MPS Army Foundation has had many generous donations. In September, with your help, MPS Army raised a total of $478.49. This means we are able to provide supplies and holiday gifts for our MPS cousins, testing for families that think their dog or cat may have MPS, and we can assist breeders wanting to join our MPS Army Certified Breeder Program.
In October we celebrated the life of Bella by sharing her story on her birthday. Bella's mother did a beautiful job giving us a sneak peek into what it's like learning your pup may have MPS, and how to give them the best life moving forward.
These MPS dogs just had the best Halloween. It was even sweeter after receiving all of the amazing gifts you helped provide in their Halloween baskets!

November MPS Fact:
Mucopolysaccharidoses are a group of metabolic disorders characterized by the accumulation of GAGs (glycosaminoglycans, or mucopolysaccharides) due to the impaired functions of lysosomal enzymes. These are long chains of sugar carbohydrates. It is the mucopolysaccharides which help in building bones, cartilage, skin, tendons, corneas, and the fluid responsible for lubricating joints.
MPS VI is estimated to occur in 1 in 250,000 to 600,000 newborns.
MPS Army has been in contact with Penn Genn who studies MPS in animals. This week they just informed us they have discovered new mutations of the MPS gene. This is very serious! This means that MPS is spreading! It is now more important than ever for breeders to test their animals for MPS! If you know a breeder that would like to join our program please email us.
Would you like to win an MPS Army car magnet?
Check our Instagram for your chance to win! Each state will have their own compition to win a magnet.
If you didn't get lucky don't worry, we have marked these magnets at 50% off in our store so everyone can show their love and support.
Don't forget to order your doggy cookbook and MPS coloring book!
These make great Christmas presents!
